Joking about the United States' obsession with baseball, our national pastime, Comedian John Cleese remarked that "it’s not reasonable to host an event called the ‘World Series’ for a game which is not played outside of America."

Mr. Cleese is mistaken, however, as baseball is played in many countries across the globe. In fact, teams from 16 nations are scheduled to compete in the World Baseball Classic to be held in March 2006.

The individuals depicted below are Major League Baseball players who have volunteered to play for the team of their country of origin. Name them, their city and country of birth, as well as the team for which they currently play in the United States.
